Christmas Marathon teaser

Its only a few weeks to the cake eating Christmas card making marathon, sorry I get distracted by the thought of the cake.  So if you are still thinking about it, or have only just heard about it, don't delay, let Julia or I know you want to come.  All the details are in the previous post.

To tempt you here is a partial pic of one of the cards that may appear in a basket for you to make.

Hope to see you there.

Christmas Marathon

We're back!  It's time for a mass session of Christmas Card making at the 2 Scrapladies Christmas Marathon.  So get your Christmas spirit out, and come along to a day of cake eating, tea drinking oh and card making too.

To secure your place please book ASAP. If you have any questions email Julia or Ally.  We look forward to seeing you there.

In association with Lunch Lady Jan
Christmas Card Marathon
On Saturday 20th September 2014
at The Wyndham Hall, Church Street, Amesbury, 10am

Fancy a day of Christmas card making? We’ll supply samples of twenty plus cards and the kits and equipment for you to make them.  Styles will vary; clean and simple, vintage, grungy, blah blah.  You bring your basic tool kit and your appetite, and while you craft, we’ll make drinks and serve cakes and eventually force you to stop for lunch, all cooked and baked by the famous Lunch Lady.
The 2 Scrap Ladies will be on hand all day of course, but this is not a ‘tuition’ style workshop, it will use techniques that stampers and paper crafters are mostly already familiar with.  Instructions are supplied with each card; if you’re a newbie to stamping, you may want to consider taking a couple of workshops prior to the Marathon so that you can make the most of this fun day of therapy/crafting.
The charge for the day is £45.
Small print:
Your £ 10 deposit is not refundable, unless 2 Scrap Ladies have to cancel the event, in which case you will receive a full refund.
We will take the rest of your payment on the day; if you’d like to pay a bigger deposit or make an interim payment, accurate records will be kept..promise!

Dont delay - book today!

Don't forget ladies the spring marathon is coming up soon.

If you said to us you wanted to come,  or even if you haven't said, but want to, please send in your bookings soon so we know how many we need to kit for.  The reason is partly that I am away for two weeks soon on hols, and need to put orders in before I go, so I can kit like mad when I get back.

Thanks and hope to see you soon  - unless of course I find that tall dark handsome rich man on my holiday in which case....

Spring Card Marathon

Spring Card Marathon

Sunday 28th April 2013

Burbage Village Hall
60 Eastcourt Road
Burbage
Marlborough
Wilts SN8 3AJ

10am to 4pm
Price:  £42 per person
We’re happy to announce another Marathon card making session in our usual format: we’ll supply almost everything you need to make a bunch of cards (one of each – about 25 if you do them all!). We’ll give you written instructions and be lurking to provide commentary and beverages, and there’ll be a lovely home-made lunch too, and maybe a raffle and some bits to buy.  You bring your own scissors, adhesive of choice and kit that you like to craft with.  And an appetite.
As you can see we have changed our venue, hopefully it wont be too much farther for most of you to travel and it's less far for some of you too.  The old hall was in dire need of a facelift and there just weren't enough tables there to cater for everyone anymore, so the lovely Lunch Lady Jan suggested this hall, which does.  There is plenty of room there for us all and still loads of parking.
As always booking is essential. There is an upper limit, so don’t delay if you want to come with a bunch of friends.  We'd like a £10 deposit per person with your booking; balance will be payable on the day, at the door.  Payments can be made via Paypal or by cheque or cash of course. Once you've booked your spot, we'll confirm, and by email provide you with further details - route directions, what to bring.
Please read the small print:
- your deposit is not automatically refundable. If we know in advance that you can't come, we will do our best to fill your space and therefore return your deposit. (7 days in advance, minimum)

- Your deposit can be transferred to benefit another attendee if you give us notice that you aren't coming. (7 days notice, minimum)

- Your deposit is entirely safe and 'ring-fenced'. We will not be using it to buy resources or pay costs in advance. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel the day, your deposit will be refunded within 48 hours of our cancellation announcement.
Email either of us if you have any questions!

WATCH THIS SPACE!

Rumour has it a Marathon may be in the planning stages.  When we mean planning, of course we just mean can Lunch Lady Jan come, and can we get a hall?

We'll let you know.

Thank you

Well the Christmas Card Marathon has come and gone. We had great fun, and hope you all did too.

Thanks again to everyone who came along, and especially to Lunch Lady Jan for catering for us all again with her fab cakes and yummy lunch.

You all seem to be of the opinion that the Marathons are great as they are, and we shouldnt change anything, but if you were too shy to speak up and have any suggestions, do let us know.

So now you have all your cards done - have a great Christmas.

See you next year!

Sneak Peaks

Back by popular request, 2 Scrapladies bring you:

A Year in a Day Magnetic Calendar

8th October, 2011

Tidworth, Hants

Price: £30 for those who only want the calendar layouts, cos they did the class last time.

If you didn't do the class last time and would like a frame too, that is an extra £20.

Price includes lunch, tea, coffee and cakes throughout the day made by the lovely Lunch Lady Jan, and of course everything you need to make the calendar layouts (except a few basics that we'll tell you about nearer the time).

Last time we each did a year, but this year we are splitting it between us so there will be only one kit and we'll do 6 months each.

So to tempt you a little, here are a few sneak peeks from some of my months (but I'm not saying which).

We don't have as many places for this event than the card marathons, so don't delay in booking. As usual, all bookings to Julia please.

Have a fun bank holiday and hope to see you in October.

Thank you

Well the Midsummer Madness Card Marathon has come and gone. A huge thank you to everyone who came - some from quite a distance, I hope you all enjoyed it.

Thanks to lunch lady Jan for magically producing the most awesome cakes and dinner. To Laura for helping out and Julia for letting me come play in her sandpit.

It was great. See you all in November for Christmas.

I'm off to bed now - if I can sleep knowing there are unwashed stamps in the house!!

Sometimes its just hard work!!!

Not card making I hasten to add in case anyone thinks I'm fed up with it, but getting family who generally would rather buy a blue stripey supermarket to appreciate mine.

This afternoon I made one using the Stamping Up! Owl punch for the card Marathon. I was really pleased with it and showed my brother who generally does like what I make. He said he liked it but he couldnt read the writing. Is he really that short sighted I thought? Theres a greeting but thats pretty big, so I asked him what he meant. He pointed to the dictionary page I had used for part of the owl! Groan!

Dont forget its just a smidgeon less than 5 weeks to the card marathon.

Sneak Peaks

Well I've been on holiday in Rome and am back and now ready to throw myself off the paper cabinet and into final preparations for the Midsummer Madness Card Marathon. If you are thinking of coming, don't delay as places are going, and lunchlady Jan needs to know how many yummy cakes to bake - oh and we might need to know how many to kit for too :-) To tempt you a little more, here are a couple of very sneaky peeks of 2 of my cards. I think Scraplady Julia will posting peeks of hers soon too. Hope to see you there. ally

Save the Date(s)

Ok ladies (don't think there are any gents) here are the dates for 2 Scrapladies events this year.
4th June - A Midsummer Madness Card Marathon (as requested by many of you, and cos ally really wants to make a ton of cards that aren't Christmassy).
8th October - A Year In A Day - the return of the fab 12 x 12" magnetic calendar. Buy the whole kit complete with beautiful wooden frame to hold the completed pages, or just the kits to make the pages if you did the class last time and already have the frame.
and finally (insert drum roll)
12th November - The Christmas Card Marathon. Same format as usual - come along for the day, have lunch, drink tea, eat cake, make as many cards as you can.

More details - the important stuff like costs, timings etc will follow really soon.

Thank you!

Thank you everyone who came last weekend to the Christmas Card Marathon. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and Julia and I certainly did.
Here are a couple of photos I took on the day:

Before things kicked off - all the tables looking neat with the gift baggies on. They contained a couple of wooden shapes cut on the b*ll*cks machine, and a gingerbread house box with a chocolate in inside. The baggies doubled up as a handy way to carry your creations home safely.

Everyone having a busy creative time.

And for those of you who didnt make it this time, but might be tempted next time:

These are a couple of the cards we made this year - but there were 34 I think in total.

Sneak peeks

Ok these are very sneaky peeks - after all we don't want to unveil the whole thing before the big day.

Something old - silk paper makes a return, with a cute stamp I bought for last year and then promptly lost and so couldn't use - but I found it so its back this year.

Something new - some nice turquoise card, and a new background stamp from Kars to make a funky retro card.

Something borrowed - well, I kind of borrowed the technique from the lovely Tim Holtz, but I'm sure he doesnt mind.

Something blue - glimmer mists/cosmic shimmer misted backgrounds (ok this is a rubbish picure but the shiney sparkly is hard to photograph).

There are of course lots of lovely cards to make, definately a case of something for everyone. If you haven't already - book soon, spaces are filling up.

Have a crafty Bank Holiday Monday.
:-)

Monday, 23 August 2010

It's 9 weeks and counting....

...well strictly speaking it's 9 weeks, and 5 days, but that would be picky eh?

There are still a few more spaces to fill, and time to get your bookings in, so if you are still thinking about it - don't delay!

Come along and get all your Christmas cards done in one day, and have fun while you do it. We'll provide refreshments and lunch and all the bits you need for the cards (a list of what you need to bring will be sent out with booking confirmations).

As a little teaser, so far this year we have used glimmer mists/cosmic shimmer sprays, Tim Holtz new Christmas embossing folder and his Distress Inks, amongst the usual things. In fact at this rate we may well have to have a separate 'messy' table!

Check back this weekend, and I might have a sneak peak or two to tempt you.
